Girls night

Had a great time at macaroni grill celebrating Katie Ellis birthday. We spent two hours laughing so hard about life and the funny things that we deal with.

On Monday we had a great family day. Tyson had lunch with Tom and Danny. I got to go to body pump class and we hit the zoo afterwards since our membership expired this month. We had a great time. Sydney loved pushing the stroller. London was a total sweetheart and was totally happy. Sadly we both forgot our phones so no pictures - but in a funny way it was that same fact that made it so fun. We had no distractions.

Afternoons

Today we went to see Tyson at work. It was nice to get out and enjoy the sunshine. We were able to see Tom Rizo and chat. We came back home, fed London and then Sydney started freaking out because she wanted my attention. Afternoons can be hard - long and sometimes lonely. I often can't wait for Tyson to get home.

This afternoon as London was taking her last nap from 5-545 Sydney and I stayed on the stairs. She kept going up and down the same 4 steps. She would stop At my knees and we would touch noses. Her cute cheeks giggle. I would pick her up and flip her around. She would giggle more. These moments are amazing and make you forget that 15 minutes earlier you wanted to run out if the house. Lol bd

Morning activities

This morning we 1. Played with play dough. 2. Made a hammock under the table 3. Legos and 4. Lots of reading.

It gets exhausted trying to keep Sydney entertained. We limit her screen time to 2-3 twenty minute dora episodes. She loves dora! It's one of her first words " ooh rah". It's a delicate balance between trying to get stuff done, feed London and not have Sydney watch much tv. I'm so happy for Netflix so we don't watch commercials.

Play dough

We bought Sydney some dough. This was the first time she played with it. Duration of play time - 5 minutes. We could have gone longer but Sydney started eating it so I figured it was time to quit while ahead. I'm excited to see how she likes it after she decides its not a snack item.

Pictures

These are from Tyson's phone from before Christmas . I'm amazed at how big Sydney has gotten. She's so big! This was life before London - which in itself feels like forever ago. We are loving having two girls. It's been such a learning experience.

Walking

Sydney and I go walking a lot around the property when the weather is good and London is sleeping. I'm a huge believer of outside time and even though it would be easier and cleaner to stay inside, I know we need sun, fresh air and open space.

Most of the time Sydney runs off to explore - just far enough to feel like a big girl but close enough that I feel we are safe, usually no more than 5 feet in front of me. She loves to touch the green doors, pick up rocks, look through the fence, look up to see birds and airplanes. She loves to go up and down each little speed bump like its a roller coaster and yells "weeee".

And yet sometimes, just sometimes she comes back and is perfectly happy just walking around hanging on to my little finger. I look down at our hands and realize how truly special it is that she wants me so close. I stop and realize that soon enough she won't want to hold my hand. So I stop and try really hard to memorize that moment . Sydney is a wonderful little girl. I'm so lucky to have her.

Sisters

London does look a lot like Sydney at this age but she is her own personality. London is very quiet. She is a happy baby and very calm. Sydney was always incredibly sensitive. London seems to be much more portable. I make it a point to have her sleep in her carseat for one nap. She also is much easier to sleep train. She now goes down without Any fussing at bedtime and for most nap times. She doesn't require any rocking- just being held for 2 minutes and then put into bed.

Still our little girls are sisters for sure even though they have completely different personalities.

Little bow

Love her dark hair. First time wearing bows. I am taking much more time to just hold her. I was so scared that I was holding Sydney too much and she would never be independent along with many silly first time mommy fears. I'm glad I have loosen up and learned new things.

Oh little girls

I was giving Sydney a bath and she was playing around for what seemed like an eternity. She seemed so happy - so content. Lately she has been super needy and Tyson is the last person she wants to see. She really just wants me. It's cut and sad at the same time. Having London has been a huge learning curve but I know it's the best thing that we could have done for Sydney. Still all she knows is that mom is busy - a lot. She's a trooper.

Quote

"We don't have to be perfect for God to use us. We just have to keep showing up."

I read this quote this morning on one of my favorite mom blogs - steadymom.com

I was really struck by it. Sometimes I feel like I'm really messing up this mom thing, other times I feel pretty good. Yesterday Sydney and I went to the store and then to the playground. Ty stayed with London. It was a great time to be just with her. She went through so many changes. There are moments that I really see my girls for what they are- a miracle. Sadly I also lose sight of that often. I often pray to know if I'm even doing it slightly right. These quotes really help me stay on track.
