Family Fun Day

We had a fantastic time on Monday. Due to a district meeting Tyson and I had the very rare chance of having a weekday off together. I didn't want to lose the opportunity to do something fun. We officially had a Family Fun Day.

We started out the morning by vacuuming the upstairs. Although it does not sound amazing, we really really needed to do it. Tyson took the stairs and I took the rest. Since I got pregnant I'm down to vacuuming  maybe once a month. Now that Sydney is a crawling monster we worry about having small things on the floor.

After we cleaned Sydney went down for her morning nap. We got snacks ready and got stuff in the car. The minute Sydney woke up we changed her diaper and headed out to the Denver Zoo. We walked around for an hour looking at the elephants, monkeys and birds. Sydney is just barely recognizing things outside of mom and dad. She can now see a plane, a bird, animals - she acts slightly scared at first and then starts to jump up and down.

After the zoo we hit Cafe Rio and shared a steak salad - oh man it was sooo good. Then since it was only a 12 minute drive, we headed to Ikea. I got two toys for Sydney and spice racks that we will use as book shelves. Sydney did not like driving home and due to her short afternoon nap was cranky. We made it home at 3 pm and attempted to put her down for a nap but it did not last.

We spent the rest of the day chilling at home. We walked to Sonic and shared a shake.  Sydney went down at 710 because she was so tired from her short afternoon nap.

It was a really great day. Tyson and I had great chats. We got such a kick from seeing Sydney "see" things for the first time. We agreed how being parents has been such a huge transition but mostly it just means we find joy in different things.

It was a great day

Fun Weekend

We had a great weekend. Saturday was filled with  a baby shower, cleaning and then dinner with the Ashby's and Buragins. We had Cafe Rio chicken , rice  and fresh fruit. It was soooo good. We had a great time chatting about montessori schools and having kiddos. Both Mine and I are pregnant and she is due this week!

We got home Saturday night at 730 and by 9 I was in bed. lol.

Sunday we attended church, came home, cleaned up, played with Sydney. At 5 the Bugarins came over. We made a fun dinner out of whatever we had in pantry. We also made two cakes -a  white and chocolate cake. At 630 we had Lacey and Matt Sanders - a new couple in the ward, join us for dessert. We sat outside under the trees, let the kiddos play with rocks and enjoyed the last days of warm air.

Everyone left by 745 to put kiddos to bed. I facetimed with Jael and steve for an hour and was in bed by 930. It was just an awesome weekend.

Dear Sydney

Dear Sydney,

The last two weeks have been pretty rought. You have started a very hard "all I want is mommy stage". It took both daddy and I by total surprise since you have always loved others and have never had an issue playing by yourself or with other kids.

Grandma Goez says it's because I'm pregnant and she can sense the new baby, others say it's the seperation anxiaty stage. Either way it's been challenging to say the least. I know deep down that if I wasn't pregnant, sick and tired I could handle it so much better. But I am.

You use to be such a happy morning baby, but that's gone away too. It seems like the second you get up you are whinning or screaming and nothing can make you happy. I stopped doing quiet time during the day because I was too tired to go up the stairs again during the day - not sure if you are just out of practice.

The hardest part if when daddy wants to play with you and help mom. You hate it. I have to leave the room entirely or you will just cry and cry. Most days we are soooo ready for bedtime. It makes me so sad.

I'm sad because I feel that I am missing you due to me being so tired and sick. Its harder to carry you with a growing belly. The other night I started crying because I felt like a failure - if only I had more energy, more patience and then I start thinking about TWO babies and I just want to cry.

Still, deep down inside I know that this stage where I am your favorite person will be gone too. There will be a time in the future where all you will want is dad, then friends  and I will be distant distraction. I'm sure I'll be sad then too. I found myself reinacting this conversation we will have in the future:

me: You know Sydney there was a time when all you wanted was mommy and you would cry when I was not holding you.

sydney: really? huh that's funny. But what about ___ (dad, friends, brother, sister...etc)

me: believe or not, all you wanted was me.

sydney:  that's changed hasn't it? (in a snarky tween voice tone) It's ok mom your's still cool.

Yup. I can see it now. So in the midst of all the crazy we are going through right now, I stop and look down at you. I kiss your super soft cheeks over and over again until you push me away. Its a short time.

I love you sweet Sydney. You are such a sweet little girl.

Logan and Grandpa Goez

Oh how I miss this little guy. I had to post this picture all by itself  because that is seriously how he is most of the time! So happy and content. He does the cutest army crawl and loves to laugh so loud when Tyson plays with him. We go see them in a month and I can't wait.

We sure do love you little Logan!

Ten Months

Weigth:20 lbs 2oz
Height:29 inches

Fun Facts:
1. You can stand baby! You showed us this by almost falling out of your crib. Scary! Still no crawling but you will probably just walk past that stage anyway.

2. You got TWO teeth! Teething wasn't too bad except you woke up during the night, but no fever, no rash! Yeah!

3. You are taking a long morning nap and a shorter afternoon nap but overall you have a happy attitude.

4. You love to roll over and over again to travel to something. It's funny to find you in a totally different position in your crib in the morning.

5. You go to bed between 730 and 745. Sleep until 7 am and wake up super happy.

6. You are so much better at  picking up food and actually getting it in your mouth. A lot still gets thrown down the high chair but you are learning.

7. You are turning into quite the mama's girl. It's funny because when Daddy picks you up you start looking around to find me. Still you and your daddy love to play hide and seek, read books and overall are quite the best pals.

You are learning to master standing on your own. You can last 5 seconds at the most but you love trying. You even take your little hands and push ours away when we hold your waist. It's like you are saying "let me try it alone ..."

You have found a new love for all things outside. You love picking up rocks, pulling up grass, picking sticks - mostly you try to put everything in your mouth and 98% of the time mom can stop it but sometimes you sneak in some rock that you just cant' wait to taste

You can also pull yourself up most of the way. You have figured out how to move your body around your legs. You tend to launch yourself when you want something and are slowly learning how to back up into your knees to sit up again.

You move alot in your crib. A couple of times you have turned to your stomach and trying to back up into the side of your crib. It's pretty funny because you get this really confused

You continue to amaze us with your bladder! You pee so much and so often. You were regular size 3 diapers during the day, which we HAVE to change atleast every 2.5 hours, but at night you wear size 4 GOODNIGHT diapers - you leaked out last night. It's amazing your little bladder can hold

Family Visit Part 1

We had a very last minute surprise visit from my mom, Fredy, Jael and baby Logan. We. Loved. It.

We found out 4 days before they came that they were driving out. I could not wait. They arrived September 4th. It took them 12 hours to get here because they were pulling a trailer and they took lots of breaks for Logan.

They arrive, we hugged and had dinner. Tuesday we just hung out at home. We had the missionaries come over and help us take the GORGEOUS bed they got for Sydney.

Wednesday we hung out at home after the first nap, then we hit PF Changs for lunch, walked around the mall. We went back home for naps. We hit Costco after and had some steak for dinner.

Thursday was project day. The main goal was to put Sydney's bed together, rearrange her room, switch closets for us and start turning the master closet into a mini nursery. We acomplished it all but man we were tired! We also went swimming on Thursday and had a blast! Sydney and Logan had a blast playing together and loved going down the slide with Tyson.

Friday morning we all got up early and hit Denny's for breakfast. After my parents headed home. It was such a quick and fun visit. We were pretty sad all day when they left - they were so fun.

The next time we see them is next month when we fly out to celebrate Sydney's first birthday. We are having a custome theme party. It will be small but fun.
